People come to therapy for many reasons, maybe you are feeling stuck in some part of your life, like relationships, employment, use of substances, or asking "who am I?" after becoming a parent and are trying to figure out how to get "unstuck". Or maybe you just have a sense that "life could feel better than this" but not sure what next steps to take.
In my work as a therapist, you will find my sessions as a place to be vulnerable and explore the more intimate parts of your story, and I tend to use humor and levity in the complexity of the human experience. I will support you to tap into the strength you need to handle the challenges you are experiencing. I enjoy diving into the tough conversations about the role our identities have on our experiences in this world. I deeply appreciate the rich tapestry of the human experience and our unique journeys. Together we can identify the tools and supports you need to feel more connected, fulfilled and heading in the right direction.
Professional Counseling Background and Orientation
I have worked in a variety of settings with a diverse client population, these include working in community mental health, in long term residential treatment, college counseling center, and with Veterans in both residential treatment and outpatient services. My experience also includes 15 years working in wilderness education which has had a major role in my theoretical orientation. My theoretical model is holistic and focused in Recovery Model Orientation (The Recovery Model in Mental Health Care (verywellmind.com). I use an eclectic approach that combines many different modalities including, but not limited to; strength based, person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy, reality based, nature based, motivational interviewing, developmental focused, grief work, co-occurring disorders, and experiential techniques.

What is Walk and Talk?
- Walking in nature while doing talk therapy
- We can walk fast or slow
- We don't have to walk the whole time; sit on the benches, smell the flowers, throw rocks into the creek.
- Benefits of walk and talk supports improved focus, mood, connection with self and others, as well a reduction in rumination and stress. It is a wonderful type of moving meditation rather than a still mediation.
